Richmond Hill Theatre for the Performing Arts

The theatre across the street is slowly coming together, along with the city website, I've decided to start my own series of pictures showing the progress. This massive project will definitely give a boost to the area.. and we had this in mind when we first selected the location for Ti Amo Gelato & Cafe (TAG). For now, here are a few pictures of what the theatre looks like from TAGs viewpoint:

Cold, but never too cold for gelato!

Looks like word is slowly getting around as people have been noticing the cakes on the blog. Customers like the idea of having their cake custom made, uniquely with fresh ingredients.

Also to note, new in the store is a chocolate mocchacino gelato flavour.

Lastly, check out the slides from the Town of Richmond Hill downtown revitalization meeting held in October, 2007. May I recommend slide 26 of 29.

Happy Holidays!

Hope everyone is having a great holiday season. We've been trying to keep busy at the store... 2 weekends ago, we were able to serve our Gelato at a Christmas function... over 15 litres of gelato were served which came out to over 200 cones!

In the meantime, here are a few pics of some cakes recently made... (makes me hungry!)

Kaymas!

Here are two cakes recently made by our resident gelato/cake maker. The chocolate/cookies one was made with gelato with a seasame theme, the second is a vanilla elmo cake. Both were delicious and finished by friends and family. Happy Kaymas!

Santa Claus is coming... to Richmond Hill?

On November 18, Santa Claus decided to be in two places at once, both downtown Toronto and in Richmond Hill, parading along Yonge Street. Living in Richmond Hill for the past five years, I was surprised to see the unbelievable turnout on the streets. This was also a great opportunity for people to come into Ti Amo Gelato. Lots of fresh Italian coffees and hot chocolates were served... including white hot chocolate! What a great way to start off the Christmas season!

Taste of the Hills!

We participated in the Taste of the Hills, a multi-cultural food festival held annually in Richmond Hill. In our prep package, we were told to prepare food for approximately 350 people; in the end, the number far exceeded that and people had to be turned away at the door!

Four flavours of free Gelato were served that day; chocolate, vanilla, mixed berries and coffee. We had to continuosly manage the line as it kept growing and we ran out of gelato within the first hour and a half! Over 20 litres were served!

Congrats to town councillor Vito Spatafora (pictured below) for organizing such a wonderful event for the community!

Gelato!

Greetings! Welcome to the Ti Amo Gelato & Cafe bar. Within the first week of opening in Downtown Richmond Hill (in Aug), we welcomed a few Councillors from the Town. Enjoying their Gelato are Brenda Hogg (deputy mayor), Arnie Warner (ward 2), and Lynn Foster (ward 4). We were also presented with a plaque signed by the Mayor Dave Barrow. So for now, enjoy the blog, updates will be up shortly!
